Adam Knight
Adam Knight is General Manager of the Edinburgh Playhouse, the UK’s largest theatre. He will be joining the Board of Waverley Care, Scotland’s leading charity for people living with HIV and Hepatitis C. For nearly three and a half years he held the position of Operations Director of the Grand Opera House Belfast (where he programmed the Baby Grand Studio). During his time as Theatre Manager of the Savoy Theatre and Trafalgar Studios for the Ambassador Theatre Group in the West End he was presented with the London Theatre Manager of the Year Award by Greg Dyke.
Having started his career at the Connaught Theatre, Worthing, and as Education Trainee at Chichester Festival Theatre; he went on to train as an actor with the National Youth Music Theatre, National Youth Theatre and at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. His theatre credits as an actor include appearances in London, on Broadway and in the UK Tour of Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers.
He is Chair of the Board of Dance Resource Base NI and serves on the boards of Bruiser Theatre Company and Pintsized Productions. He is Trustee of the Evelyn Norris Trust (one of the Combined Theatrical Charities) and former Vice-Chair of Equity’s International Committee for Artist’s Freedom. In Scotland, Adam is a member of the Desire Lines steering group set up to consult, advise, inform and shape the City of Edinburgh’s new Cultural Policy. Recently, Adam completed the London Marathon raising over £5,000 for The Samaritans.
